Lexie @ the Laundromat December '09

Our washer busted over Thanksgiving weekend. The first place I called to fix it said they didn't service LG's, because it was too difficult to get parts for. The second place said they could come but not until Wednesday of this week. Well the nice fix it man fixed it and it worked for one load. Long story short my washer will not be fixed until next week, the earliest being Tuesday. I already had nearly a weeks worth of laundry. Laundromat here we come. I went with Lexie and she had a blast. I've never been to a Laundromat before and it was kind of fun. Lexie had a great time, putting the soap in and putting quarters in the machines. It really is much more convenient to just do it at home though. So $31.00, two and a half hours later we made it home. Yes you read correctly $31.00 worth of quarters. The machines didn't hold to0 much and it was $1.75 a load. Weeks worth of laundry with three kids, plus the rugs I had started when the washer originally stopped, and my sheets which had been peed by one of my lovely children. I didn't even have my clothes dry they were all damp and I had to finish drying them at home. I hung a few things up which are still not dry. Things do not line dry very well here. So I am grateful for a washing machine and I hope mine gets fixed sooner rather than later.

Gratitude: Write it down

So awhile back I started doing gratitude journals with my kids. It has been sporadic, and it being the month of Thanksgiving I wanted us to get back in the habit here is Lexie's list from tonight:

1. "Hey mom, I am grateful for my big bear."
2. "I'm grateful for my uhhh, you, Dad, Anna, and Andrew."
3. "My, my, my brand new underwear, cause I like them. Thanks for buying them Mom."
4. "Hmm, let me think: my clothes."
5. "And my Bed."

I think this girl is so beautiful and I am so happy to have her in my life. Love you Lex!!

On the 28th we celebrated Lex's 4th birthday. Where does the time go? So here is my little dollface at 4.

favorite color: pink and red (red to be like me, how flattering)
favorite food: fries, most fruits and veggies,
favorite music: Upside Down, Jack Johnson
Favorite activities: Playing with siblings, puzzles, movies
Lexie loves all things girly: purses, lipstick shoes, my high heals, she loves to open presents and she gets so excited it is fun to give her presents. When I asked her what she wanted for her birthday she said some make-up. My mom sent her the movie Cinderella and when we turned it on to watch she ran to her room and came back out in her Cinderella a dress up and shoes, before she was ready to start. She loves to sing but is not going to have a career in this area. I love this little girl to pieces and fear a little for her as she is just like her mother. I love you Lexie happy 4th birthday!

I know I am biased being her mother and all, but I think she is gorgeous and has stellar eyebrows. I love how excited you get and how animated you are with your hands and eyes. When Lexie is sweet there is nothing sweeter, and when she is naughty she can do that real well as well. Keep acting "pretty" Lex, pretty is as pretty does. We love you and are so grateful for the blessing you are to our family.

Lexie November 2008

I think the little kwirks and idiosyncrasies people have are part of what makes them lovable. Just a few minutes ago I told Lex I was going to wash their blankets. My kids have a bad habit of having there blankets with them everywhere. So washing them can sometimes be a big deal. When I told her she said with big eyes and enthusiasm," Okay but don't wash the chocolate off. It smells good and I like it."

I like chocolate too but not on my bedding. She truly has some Larsen blood cause we love treats. I should tell you about my mom and peanut m&m's sometime, but she might get mad. I love you Lexie!

Update

Well since my blogging competition ended with my sisters, which by the way I won, I haven't been very good at posting. I'm going to get back into it as it is something I enjoy and makes me happy. So some random updates:

Saturday night (8/22/09) cute Andrew said," Is tomorrow fast Sunday?"
Me: "No."
Andrew: "Is it slow Sunday?"
Jeremy and I had a good laugh at this one. Makes sense if there is a fast Sunday there should be a slow one too. But for me Fast Sunday is the SLOW Sunday. I have never been very good at fasting and it is an area of life I could stand for a little improvement. Sure I fast, or rather go hungry but I really need to develop a testimony of this principle.

When my mom was here in July we decided we would try to highlight my hair, against my better judgement. My mom tried to tell me it didn't look "that bad" when someone uses this term you know it's not good.
So I waited and then when Jess was here she bought some hair dye before she left for home. So that night after the wonderful vacation which you can read about here ended, I dyed my hair. This is a first for me. I have always paid someone for my dye jobs (there is a reason for this). Anyhow, the color is much darker with a fair amount of red highlights. Sometimes I like it and sometimes I don't. But when Lexie noticed she said,"Did you paint your hair?" I told her I did and she got all excited said she wanted to paint her hair in the morning, ran into the bathroom looking for the paint, then asked if I used fingernail polish. I love how their little minds work. They make me so happy and I feel so lucky to be a mother. I just want to always remember the cute things they do and say, especially in the moments where I am clearly losing it.

So, I came upon the above scene this morning. They recently got umbrellas and who knew they would be such a hit. They want to play with them all of the time. I think they are darling, the children not the umbrellas.

Do you think Lexie should be a model? She is learning the art of posing, maybe I'll put her to work.

I have been working on getting some photos of my kids for awhile now. It is disheartening when you take like 150 and get only 1 good one. This may be an exaggeration but you know what I mean, I'm sure. So anyway I would like a vote on which photo of Lexie is better one or two. All comments welcomed! Somewhat of a lame blog, but Nicole you asked for a new blog so this is what I have been doing.

LU LU at 3

Lexie turned three on the 28th. We had the family over for cake and ice cream and she was so excited everyone was there to see her! Lexie is a fun little girl to have around and I can hardly believe she is already three! Lex got three Disney barbies for her birthday and is now very into playing with them! Thanks to all our family and friends who helped celebrate and make Lexie feel so special. We think she is a great little girl, here are some of our favorite things about Lexie at three:

• When asked what does the Lexie say, she responds, "may I have some candy please?" she loves sweets
• She will pull a whole carrot out of the fridge and ask someone to take the crust off
• She loves to eat peanut butter off of a spoon
• "Daddy my tummy hurts can I have an apple?" Apparently apples are the cure for sick tummies according to my kids
• She loves to help clean with me
• She loves all things girly: lipstick, shoes, ponies (for hair), clothes
• When Jeremy leaves for a bike ride Lexie says, "Be careful, watch for cars"
• When we pick Andrew up from school she always says, "Andrew what did you learn today?"

We love her and think she is a doll face. Happy third Lex, we love you and are so glad you are a part of our family!

"All Things Girly"

If there is anything which describes my little Lexie, it is definitely "all things girly." I'm not sure where she gets it from, as there are times I certainly wish I were a bit more girly. Her features are girly; I think even as a tiny baby, when you aren't sure if the baby is a "he" or "she" and you find yourself checking the color of clothing or for a bow, or are asking the parents, "What's the name?" as you mumble over the he or she part, even then, Lexie looked gilry. She has beautiful eyelashes. She has always had mannerisms which are unmistakeably the mark of a little lady, which I call her at times, hoping she will one day grow into a lovely lady (I'm still hoping this will occur for me, but I guess it is a life long process.) She stands with her little hip sticking out and her hand on it. She loves shoes, and has since around 18 months; she had a pair of black patent leather shoes she always wanted to wear. People warn me to watch out for when she gets older, that girls are harder than boys but I'm so glad I have Lexie and grateful she has a sister. I have two sisters and can't imagine going through life without them. There is a special bond between sisters and I look forward to watching this develop between Anna and Lexie. Lexie has more fashion sense at two, than I do at twenty-eight, she must get this from her aunt Jessica a quality I must admit I'm envious of. Although, luckily since I don't have it, I have a sister to help me with it. She likes having her hair fixed, and I like doing it. I look at all the little girls hair at church to come up with new ideas of how to do it. She has a bracelet she got for Christmas, we just pulled out a few weeks ago and it hasn't left her wrist since. I have a feeling it will be there until it breaks. So I think I've made my point that Lexie encompasses all things girly, and I wouldn't change her. I hope she will always be sugar and spice and everything nice, since that's what little girls are made of. I love you Lexie!

Don't worry though, she's not so prissy she can't ride her tractor in her Easter dress. What a gal!
