Yesterday, Andrew, Lexie, and I went to the grocery store. I really am not the best grocery shopper. I don't go down aisle per aisle grabbing what we need or what is on the list. I usually go back and forth from aisles grabbing what is on my list, searching for where I think it may be. Stupid I know, but it is how I do it. It works for me. We were gathering ingredients for our delicious dinner. I do like to cook! Back to the point of the post. We were almost finished, coming down one of the last aisles when, we came upon the plumbers crack. This gentlemen, was bent down looking at something. I almost grabbed my phone and took a picture, then I thought that wouldn't be nice. For some reason I couldn't stop staring. It wasn't just a little bit of plumbers crack, it was more like complete backside nudity. The kids were busy looking at candy so they didn't notice (which is good, cause Lexie would have for sure said something and it would have been loud. We are practicing the tact, and being aware of others feelings with her.) I sure did and why I couldn't pull by eyes away I'm unsure; it wasn't like staring at Matthew McConaughey or anything. Once he finally retrieved his item he stood up and hiked up the pants. It was funny. I guess I'm wondering, when that much of your rear is hanging out, don't you notice?

Crack Kills
Yesterday, Andrew, Lexie, and I went to the grocery store. I really am not the best grocery shopper. I don't go down aisle per aisle grabbing what we need or what is on the list. I usually go back and forth from aisles grabbing what is on my list, searching for where I think it may be. Stupid I know, but it is how I do it. It works for me. We were gathering ingredients for our delicious dinner. I do like to cook! Back to the point of the post. Musings
"Let your taxes go to the dogs and cats." I found some comedy in this. I'm wondering how many people actually give their refunds to the humane society. Below that, it said "no more homeless pets." At one point in my life I considered myself an animal lover. I even wanted to be a vet. But I guess for me, the homeless pets don't hit the radar; not when you hear about genocide, boy soliders who are forced to see and do awful things. Homeless people especially children. Illiteracy rates in our own country(14%), AIDS being rampant in Africa.
Not that I'm heartless, I'm not. A few months back I was in Shiprock New Mexico, lovely place. We had stopped at McDonalds for lunch. There were tons of stray dogs. I felt sad for them cause they were so skinny. So I gave them my beef jerky and then we left I felt bad I didn't remember to bring our scraps. I am also the person giving the guys outside temple square money. So it's not that I don't care, I just feel there are probably better uses for the money. That being said, I'm sure it is also true of giving money to beggars.
Anyhow back to my bus billboard, as I sat in my car wondering who actually allocates there money to this cause, a lady with lap dog drives past. You know the ones with sweaters and stuff. I thought,I guess that's who. To each his own.

Is it me...?
So the other day I was running a few errands. I saw this guy with sunglasses like mine on. Mine are pictured above. Now, they weren't quite as large in the lens department, but they were a thick white frame. I asked myself a few questions. Is he metrosexual? Is this in style for men? Maybe he is gay. I tried picturing my btother Jason in them. Possibly, they are his girlfriends or wifes? Yes this is it; it's a sunny day this is all he could find in the truck. Something is better than nothing. I've worn Jeremy's on several occasions. So as I'm asking myself who is out of touch, him or me, I notice the fuzzy dice hanging from the rear view mirror. That's whan I decided, it's him. Right?

I think I Can
"THE MAN WHO THINKS HE CAN"
If you think you are beaten, you are; If you think you dare not, you don't.
If you'd like to win, but think you can't It's almost a cinch you won't.
If you think you'll lose, you've lost, For out in the world we find Success beings with a fellow's will; It's all in the state of mind.
If you think you're outclassed, you are: You've got to think high to rise.
If you think you're outclassed, you are: You've got to think high to rise.
You've got to be sure of yourself before You can ever win a prize.
Life's battles don't always go To the stronger or faster man, But soon or late the man who wins Is the man who thinks he can.
When I was a school age girl I was obsessed with quotes. I remember collecting them and putting them in a little black 3 ringed binder. I got them from all sorts of places and I'm not sure where I came across this one, but something reminded me of it the other day. I still remember the yellowed 5x7 card it was typed on. Typewriter print. I loved, and really believed in its message. I also love the corresponding book with the post, The Little Engine Who Could. This is one I read to my kids often, and when the get frustrated or whine about there inability to do something I will chant, I think i can I think i can. Very often it works, and they will at least try the task which seems insurmountable. Sometimes they are able to solve their own problem, and others they still need someone to intervene, but the point is they try.
The question I have about this is why as an adult is this harder for me to believe? I mean, I honestly believe in the message and know it is true, but I find myself lacking sufficient faith. What is it about life that makes us cynical, skeptical or a little jaded? How do we take what life hands us and rather than becoming bitter and jaded, use our experiences to be more compassionate, forgiving, and accepting? I guess I've come to the conclusion, we make a choice. We have a choice each day, are we a I think I can train, or an I think I can't? Sometimes I'm both; and I'd guess, we all vacillate with this at times. So here's to making the conscious choice, to see the cup half full, and remember Life is Good. Have you seen this brand? It is a little tree huggerish but I like it. I bought myself a Life is Good Hat in St. George to help me remember, when I forget. Life's Good!

Things I appreciate
I've been absent from the blogging world lately. I love lists so here is mine of things to be appreciated:
1. Hooks on doors or stalls of public restrooms. I mean ladies need a place to hang the purse.
2. A nice fitting pair of jeans. They uaually cost you more, but for a jean lover like me, worth it.
3. Family. Mine is the best.
4. Loyality
5. A beautiful sunset. I may even like sunrises but I still hate to get out of bed in the morning. Will I ever overcome this?
6. Good friends. I've been blessed with lots.
7. A good book (The Help was awesome. My new all time favorite.)
8. An ice cold soda. You know when there are little slushies in it? Not so many the drink won't come out though.
9. Gardening. I love planting and tending to my flowers. It is theraputic. I can't wait to get back in my house for this reason. Not just this reason, but it is one.
10. My kids. Mind you, this list is in no particular order, or they'd be higher up. They have been gone for this past week, and I've really missed them. The break has been nice, even needed, but they are such a blessing and I love them.
11. Humming birds. I have this purple perineal in my yard, which
I can't remember the name of. It attracts hummingbirds and butterflies. Both so amazing and delicate.
Well that is it for now. What things in your life do you appreciate? What would you add to the list?
